Studies show that gas stove emissions can push indoor air quality past outdoor pollution limits in under 30 minutes of use. Induction eliminates combustion entirely: it heats the pan directly with magnets, which is faster than gas, safer to the touch, and does not dump byproducts into your breathing air.

Your current hood appears to be recirculating — it runs air through a filter and blows it back into the kitchen. That removes some grease but does almost nothing for the combustion gases, steam, and fine particles cooking creates. A ducted hood vents those directly outside.
